VIRB EDIT 4.1.1 (mac) audio static after export

Hi,

Exporting a clip introduces considerable audio static in the resulting file. I'm using VIRB Edit 4.1.1 on Mac. Is there a fix for this? Thanks

Sorry for not responding sooner...ended up having a short week.

We are aware of the occasional short static pops throughout exported videos, but I think I remember the problem described in this post to be consistent static throughout the entire video. Could someone verify that it is static throughout the entire video or if it is just static pops here and there? Feel free to post a video to YouTube highlighting problem :) The best I've been able to recreate for consistent audio static at this point is the occasional audio distortion, especially with voices here and there. We are working on a fix for the occasional static pop that will be available in the next maintenance release.

Hi Wurth - thanks very much for your reply. Here are links to two videos which I exported with 5.1.0 as examples. Both have the audio static throughout the video. Please let me know if I can provide any additional examples, or do any specific tests/exports that may be helpful.

Thank you...looks like some fun rides!

Your issue is slightly different than what we've seen, but the fix might be the same. We'll probably release a beta once the fix is available to see if it helps you or not. In the meantime, could you send a snapshot of the overview page from your 'about this mac'? I'll try to recreate with 60 and 90fps clips. I think the stock footage I was using was all 30fps.

Hi Wurth, Im fortunate to live in a great area for riding. Thanks for taking a look at the videos and for your initial feedback on the issue. Per your request, I'm attaching a snapshot of my iMac system overview. Thanks again for investigating this issue - look forward to a beta once the Garmin team has one ready. On a side note, I'm returning a GoPro Hero5 today. I really like the Garmin Ultra 30 and its G-Metrix data, and I've been impressed with your responsiveness on this forum.

Thanks - let me know if I can provide any additional information that may be helpful.

I'm also experiencing the static crack/popping sound on exported videos.
    VIRB edit Version 5.1.0 (170602.1430)

    MacOS 10.12.5

    Example video:

Same result when exporting to a local MP4 file.

Happy to try out a Beta with the fix when available!
    Cheers,
    -Greg

Sorry for the delayed response. Releasing a beta got shot down for various reasons. 5.1.1 was released today to address several audio issues. Let us know if these problems persist with your hardware. Thanks!

Hi Wurth, thanks very much for this reply and for the notice about the availability of 5.1.1. Appreciate all the efforts from the Garmin team on resolving the reported issues.

    Thanks,

Hi Wurth - I just did an export test and can confirm that the audio popping issue that I had encountered with 5.1 is now fixed in 5.1.1.

Thanks very much to you and the Garmin development team!

I'm getting some static and pops in the audio too. 5.1.1 is better than 5.1.0, but it's not gone, there is still some static.

  • Wurth: i'm still having the audio export popping/static issue in 5.1.1. macOS 10.12.5. popping is same as before. example: https://is.gd/DI3IWn
