Homeport Depth Data

I have recently purchased a Echomap50S to extend my fishing results and to map the lakes i fish. Previously I had access to a Lowrance HDS7 and with the exported sonar recordings i made mighty fine looking depth maps with a tool called Surfer from Golden Software from raw exported x,y,z coordinates.

Along with the Echomap there was delivered 2 pieces of software; Homeport and BaseCamp.

I have made a few trips with the Echomap50S recording 4Gigs of sonar data. Now i want to get my hands on the sonar recordings.

In Homeport i can replay my sonar recordings and i can export the recordings, but the data does not contain depth.

Here is a segment of the first 10 datapoints
ID,trksegID,lat,lon,ele,time,magvar,geoidheight,name,cmt,desc,src,sym,type,fix,sat,hdop,vdop,pdop,ageofdgpsdata,dgpsid,Temperature,Depth,wtemp,hr,cad,

In the playback i can see the depth just fine.

Any tips on how i can get my hands on the depth data ?

In december 2011 there was a feature request regarding depth in the thread
https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?22868-How-would-you-have-us-improve-HomePort&highlight=homeport+depth
about depth data in the export function - but this was apparently not implemented even 3 years later.

The Echomap is a fine product but the software does not live up to todays standards of open interfaces.

I really hope Garmin does some development on Homeport to make the sonar data more usefull.

    Homeport Depth Data

    Hello Jens,

I'm a newbie myself, but I have learned as much as that you have to do the export from the ADM-file, not the sonar data. Makes sense as the sonar file can have way more points than necessary. With the logging options you can adjust how much data is being saved in the track log.
It's too bad that the Garmin support did not manage to tell you this. Google is your best friend in many cases.
I have to mention two excellent sonar mapping resources I have found on the net so far.
One is the home page of the Reefmaster mapping software http://http://reefmaster.com.au/ and the other is an advanced mapper from Ireland with some nice tutorials http://http://www.anglingcharts.com/

PS. I really like the Garmin products but the one thing that really upsets me at this time is that there is no support for Android or Windows for the wireless transfer of the data. Hope this will be remedied soon! Are you listening Garmin...Garmin..

We have some of these data transfer things on our roadmap. I am not sure when they will be added but it is on our radar.

Sorry for not catching up on this.

Thank your Garmin, please look into these mission functions ASAP.

My EchoMap 50s is just collecting dust on the shelf :-(
