    Still won't download for me

I have tried about a dozen times at various times of day (during working hours). I get a box that says:

"Unknown error during processing of update request. If this problem persists, contact Garmin Support."

Well, it seems persistent. Is this the Garmin Support I am supposed to contact? Thanks. John

    Whoops!

The download finally went through--seconds after I posted my last note on this forum. :-) John

Well, contacting the forum worked then, didn't it? ;)
  • hmmmm... mine created all Anchor's.... I wonder if it is because it is an old track (track created prior to the update)? see the attached image!! I'll try a new track and see what it does...

    NEO,
any help on this?? I'm still getting the Anchor icon as default.....

In my experience, existing routes did not have the point symbol changed from an anchor to a dot. "New" routes use a dot.

The change from the anchor to the dot was only for newly created routes. The symbol used in the track to route feature will have the same behavior in the next release.

    Thank you.

Under "properties" for a track is a column labelled "Index" which counts the points or turns. There is no such column under properties for routes.

When we create routes, we may need to limit the number of points or turns in a route because of limitations on our plotters. This may vary with different plotters.

Please consider adding the index column for routes.

Better yet would be a user option to limit the number of points before a warning message is generated.

Newly thought of work around for the above:

Instead of exporting a route to MapSource (which everyone does not have) and counting the points in MapSource:

View the route properties. Highlight the first point, then scroll down to the last point. Press "Shift" and left click with your mouse to select all of the points. (This might take a couple seconds)

    Right click and select "Copy".

Now, open Microsoft Exel (everyone has Excel, right?). Paste the contents of the clipboard into the first cell. On the left of the Excel grid are the row numbers. You can easily see the number of points in your route.

So if I understand correctly, your saying what I am seeing is normal for now, right? And in the next release (which can't come fast enough! ;) ) I will not see the anchor icon in a route created from a track, correct?

@KIWIGPS, that screenshot indicates to me that the download of the installer finished. At this point, the only thing it is trying to do is to extract and run the installer. The extraction takes a few seconds for me. Go ahead and kill it with task manager and run HomePort again.

Thanks but that did not succeed in installing the update. Starting HomePort now just brings up the notification of new version available etc etc as in the initial post. I'll try on a different computer and let you know how it goes.
