Unresponsive Screen - Won't Connect via USB

Hi all,

I think my Vivosport is on its last legs.

The screen is completely unresponsive. It shows notifications from my phone, but no touch-screen features work at all.

Sometimes it acts possessed, flicking from one screen and back again rapidly, even when I am not touching the device.

I cannot find any way to reset/factory reset the device at all. The battery is pretty much full, so it's going to take a full week or so for it to run dry. A week or so without fitness tracking, which is quite frustrating.

There's a recent software update, so I plugged it in to my PC via USB to get that downloaded. I figured that it would restart during the update and hopefully solve the issue. However, it won't connect via USB at all. When plugged in to the PC, it just charges (which is the opposite of what I need right now). I am unable to view the Garmin as a storage device either. Windows simply does not recognise that its there.

Does anyone know of a way to get this reset without waiting for the battery to drain? Or, alternatively, a way to switch on GPS via the app or something so that I can drain the battery much quicker?

I can live without my Garmin, but I'd prefer not to. So any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Andi

  • I suggest contacting Garmin support about this issue because a FW update likely won't help with touchscreen issues.

That being said, make sure you have installed the Garmin USB drivers on your system. Also make sure you are plugging into a USB port that has both power and data. You should see the Garmin logo when you plug in and then within a minute or two you should see the USB logo.
