Touchscreen menu not appearing

Odd issue just started today.

Vivosport was syncing fine this am, but noticno in the afternoon I couldn't bring up the activity menu by holding the touchscreen.
Left it alone and it did auto start a timed activity.
Got home and tried to sync, does show as connected in the Garmin Connect app, and steps will update, heart rate shows up, but it doesn't sync anything else or complete.
Notifications from the phone do come through as well.

From the Vivosport itself I can swipe up\down and across screens fine, but holding to get into the main menu screens does nothing?

Any help appreciated.

    And this morning on a walk it started recording laps 7 - 12!
    Im assuming it's stuck in activity, but it's not auto completing, letting me stop it or view the running counters?

    Guessing my best bet is let the battery run down

    Nevermind, plugging it into the mains seemed to cancel the activity.
    Finally synced and shows a 32hr activity covering 12km!?
