Vivoactive 3 music won't connect to WiFi if security is on

Hi I have a problem where if security is on my internet. (Virgin Media hub4) the watch won't connect. I have to remove security. I also tried my watch as a hotspot with and without security and it won't connect if security is on. Has anyone seen this? I've tried wep, WPA and wpa2 on the home network.

Thanks

  • I connect using WPA2 and AES encryption without any problems. The router needs to support 11g probably on a 2.4 Ghz channel. Perhaps you should describe the setup of the router, this is to broad a problem description.

Hi it's the virgin media hub 4 using wpa2 encryption on the 2.4ghz channel (I separated the 2.4 and 5ghz channels). The 2.4ghz is 802.11g/n mixed on channel 6.

  • Same as my setup, just check if you have AES in stead of tkip for encryption. I have seen issues with tkip in the past and aes is the better choice anyway. I have 3 different router brands and they all work withthese settinga. Also check if channel 6 is free, sometimes there is much interference by neighbours.

  • I see some issues with HUB 4 when I search for it. Did you try this suggestion I found on the forum ?

"The solution is to temporarily disable the 5Ghz WiFi and then connect the device to the 2.4Ghz band SSID. Or rename the SSID’s to differentiate between the two"

Thanks for that. I haven't done that step yet. I only split out the band's. I'll test when I get the chance

    Cheers

  • OK. I have them separated on my routers with different names (added -5G to the 5Ghz channels) because I have a much cleaner environment on 5Ghz and do not want my capable devices switch to the slow and sometimes noisy 2.4 channels.
