Not getting Notifications on VA3

Just started this week, I am not getting any notifications (messages, Texts, Email, Calendar Etc.) from my Android phone to my VA3 watch.

I have restarted both several times. Connect app has stated twice that there was an issue with notifications and I needed to restart my phone.

is there a Fix?

Thanks

    Hi Eric,

    had that same problem.

When starting thinking I asked myself if my VIVO 3 had access to data on my Win 10 computer. The watch says it is Phone connected but does not say if it is computer connected. Which appears to me a necessity. Phone messages come from your computer.

First I checked if windows had a Garmin file. Negative. When downloading the Connect app on my computer Windows says it has this app already but what it does not say is that that Connect app sits on your phone.

I looked for any Garmin troubleshooter and came out to Garmin Xpress, the original GARMIN trouble shooter.

I downloaded the GARMIN EXPRESS Troubleshooter on my pc. In checking my program files on win 10 now I could see Garmin software was on my computer. (for the first time) And I was asked to take up VIVO 3 watch as recognizable hardware device, which I did. Any device in a communication string should be  recognizable on your computer as a device (also a cordless mouse)

I ran the Garmin express while the watch was USB connected to the computer. ESSENTIAL

Garmin Express analytics showed Win 10 was missing software which I took in.

The USB  computer connected watch (while showing a battery charging mode) started notifying me with a pop up I was searching for software. NEW ELEMENT.

Then, when software was loaded down on watch and computer I made them sync all 3 together ie 1. Windows on  my computer in the main windows 10 screen   2.on the Garmin watch in the sync push option. 3  On Garmin connect on my phone (double turning flashes right on top of the connect beginning screen) to see if a connection between those three elements would bring changes after new software was available in my string of devices.

Then I re started all devices and made sure they were connected again after.

It showed the tree software structure of the Garmin watch had become wider AND also more options were available on my phone to enable the notifications app. Which I enabled.

From then, notifications for e-mail and for sms showed up on the GARMIN VIVOACTIVE 3 watch screen.

What made me think like that? The day before I asked for Garmin Chat support. I could clearly feel my options on the watch were far more restricted than what the operator had in mind. Basically they steered me into the single mode that all notifications  were available to enter at all time and they checked if Android was higher than the Android 5 version which essential. From there the idea came I was missing software.

    Give it a shot. Succes!

  • FYI computer access is not required for phone messages; those should come from your phone, not the computer. I have successfully received SMS, calendar and other notifications with only the Android app -> watch sync. My Garmin watch has only been connected to my computer twice, really more out of curiosity rather than anything else.
