Cannot add floors to stair stepper activity

Is it really so difficult for Garmin to add the data field "floors" to the stair stepper activity instead of distance? Distance is pretty useless for this activity. It's almost they added all this gimmick activities for advertisement without thinking about what kind of data fields are meaningful for which activity.

How or why would you count floors on a stair stepper?

As the name says you go stairs up on a stair stepper/mill and it would be nice if I could add stairs or floors as result to my exercise instead of distance which makes no sense. The stair mill gives floors as readout and I want to manually add this to the activity. I am aware that the Garmin Vivoactive 3 cannot count floors on a stair mill. But it would be nice if we could add that information manually so that it gets added to my daily goals.

  • I have just discovered this issue with my Vivoactive 4. I thought the first time I used it that I had just missed the bit where you add the number of steps the machine says you climbed, but I tried it again and there just isn't that option. Seems pretty silly having the stair climber activity on there if that's the case. Feeling pretty disappointed. Perahps if I move my arms while climbing the steps it will at least register it on my flights of stairs climbed?
