I've had my vivoactive 3 for close to a couple years now and my wife got her a couple of weeks ago from Garmin. When we compared SW Versions all were identical (firmware version 5.0, etc..) with the exception of GPS versions. Her's is 4.40 and mine is 2.30. We are in Canada though I bought mine thru Best Buy while she got her watch directly from Garmin. The reason I was checking was that we did a 28 km cross country ski together and we compared our stats for that day (in particular floor climbed). I got 93 and she got 76. I know that there are altimiter issues with the watch but that's a pretty drastic difference in detection of amount climbed during the day on the identical trail. Could the GPS version differences account for that or some other Gremlin in the watch?
Thanks! Main thing I was curious about was why the two different GPS versions. 4.40 on my wife's and 2.30 on mine but all other device versions are identical.
You need to go into garmin connect and do a firmware update to go from 4.40 to 2.30. It was a separate update from the 5.90 even though it was released at the same time.
