Heart Rate Reading Higher Since Update 5.3 on Vivoactive 3

Oops I meant Update 5.4. Ever since the update I am showing a higher heart rate. I always had a resting HR of about 43-45 bpm. I am not doing anything differently and of course I am doing periodic manual heart rate checks. Since the update it now consistently around 50-57. I am also seeing a higher heart rate while exercising. Thought I would check in here before I called Garmin. Anyone else seeing this discrepancy?

I've noticed the same thing. My resting heart rate shows 5 - 10 bpm higher than before. I see a higher heart rate all the time. For example, while walking today the watch consistently showed a heart rate of 100 - 110 bpm when it was actually 85 - 90 bpm. If I stop whatever I'm doing, hold my arm still, the heart rate will start to read properly after 15 seconds or so. But as soon as I start moving again it reads too high. I also get double credit for activity minutes since it reads too high and puts me into the high intensity category. Also, since the heart rate reads too high, the VO2 max calculation gets worse every day. I know my fitness level is better than 6 months ago but according to the VA3 I'm on a steady decline.

After several software updates I've concluded that these watches/sensors just aren't that accurate. This was my first fitness tracker and will probably be my last. They're just not consistent enough to be trusted for any meaningful data.
