Crashing

I bought my Vivoactive 3 music less than a month ago. It randomly restarts during activity or just sitting around the house. Sometimes it looks as though it's going into some type of test mode because the garmin logo will pop up, tiny writing, and then cross hairs. Finally it will go back to normal operation. Then it will start going from home screen to the select an activity mode. I do try to lock the home screen but it still goes back and forth. I thought possibly I was hitting a button but I know now that isn't the problem. I did the reset and insured the software was updated again but didn't help. I have contacted Garmin on messenger and I'm sure they'll make it right. they've been great to work with in the past. I did several internet searches and couldn't find any information. When I get a solution to my issue I will post the outcome so maybe some old not so techy person can find it.
  • You've probably already checked this but your comment about it going to 'select an activity' reminded me of issue my spouse was having when we first got out VA3s about 6 weeks ago.

The side of the watch that doesn't have a button is a touch slider - run your finger up and down the edge -

It was hitting the cuff of his dress shirts and doing the same thing. You can turn off the touch slider edge

It wasn't doing the reboot, or maybe it was and he didn't mention it

I'm sure it wasn't that because I was wearing short sleeves. I was at work today and it got really bad. I managed to turn it off and put it in my car. When I came out later it was still cycling. Still no word from Garmin yet. I think maybe I just got a bad one, it happens.

First off, Garmin customer service is outstanding! It just may take a little time to get in touch with them. I was surprised they didn't offer a ton of solutions, such as resetting which I had done, other than replace the watch. The kind rep said that they haven't had anyone call in with an issue like mine which would explain why my internet search came up with very little. As long as Garmin stays out of politics I'm a life customer.
  • My Vivoactive 3M kept randomly restarting and I had to continually reset default setting to get it to work properly. Went through several emails with support, but it continued so I just took it back to where I bought it and got a new one. Have not had any issues since. Once it works like it is supposed to, its a great watch. Good luck.
