Hi All,
My wife and I both have VivoActive 3 watches and both used Garmin Pay extensively with multiple cards. Both watches worked fine. Sometime since September 19 (i.e. the last time we can find a valid Garmin Pay transaction), Garmin Pay has stopped working on both watches. Both watches are running software Version 6.90. I loaded an NFC tools application on my phone and neither of the watches can be read by this application even though it reads all of our cards without a problem. I'm convinced that either the NFC chips on both devices have failed since September 19 (unlikely as the watches haven't sustained any damage and are of quite different ages) or there's been a software update that has stopped the NFC chips from working. I suspect the latter and that Garmin should investigate to find out why the NFC chip isn't working for this particular software version. Is there any way that I can find out when software versions were applied and possibly even roll them back ? I'll continue to investigate.
Cheers,
David (Australia).
Hi All,
Both my wife and I have VivoActive3 watches of quite varying ages and have been using Garmin Pay extensively with multiple cards for quite some time. Since September 19, 2019 (i.e. the last time we can find a successful Garmin Pay transaction), Garmin Pay has stopped working on both watches. Both watches run Software Version 6.90. I installed an NFC Tools application on my phone and neither of the VivoActive3 watches can be read by this application even though it reads all of our cards without a problem. So I believe either the two NFC chips in our watches both failed at about the same time (which is unlikely as neither watch has sustained any physical damage and they are of quite different ages) or there's been a software update since September 19 that's stopped the NFC chips from working; I suspect the latter. I believe that Garmin should be investigating if there's been a software version that's preventing the NFC chips from working properly with the current level of software. Does anyone know how I can find out when software updates were applied to my VivoActive3 and potentially roll them back to see if I can Garmin Pay working on one of the watches again ? I'll continue to investigate (as it was the Garmin Pay function that convinced us to purchase these Garmin devices.
Cheers,
David (Australia).
I've only tried using Garmin Pay 2X and it failed both times. I don't know if NFC doesn't work or it's the setup because of issues from GCM 4.23
