Weather Widget not working after new Connect version

I updated the Connect version on my phone and it seems to have broken the Weather Widget.

I have tried everything  suggested but nothing worked. Just have to wait for a proper fix. Hurry up Garmin!!!

  • The problem with weather widget occurs for me now and again.

Currently using Garmin Connect Android version 4.28 on a Samsung phone with a Vivoactive 3 Music.

Weather data goes stale and eventually the watch displays "no weather data available" "waiting for phone" or something like that.

What have I tried to fix it?

    • Rebooting the watch did fix not it.
    • Closing/re-opening the Connect app did not fix it.
    • Force-close the Connect app and restart it -- FIXES IT -- weather data syncs to watch.

    Have not tried

    • cycling GPS off/on
    • cycling Bluetooth off/on
    • removing/re-installing weather widget

    Hello,

    the same for me.

When the phone (S9) got Android 10, my VA-HR meteo widget start this behavior.

It always says something like "wating for data".

I have to force-close the app and clear cache several times, and it doesn't always go.

Cycling BT, on phone or VA, seems not work.

In other word I have lost the real time update of the widget, every time I had to open the phone, and finally I look the meteo on it.

Many times after an update I must reboot both the watch and the phone. Sometimes formatting the cache partition on the phone helps as well. Things just stop working as intended until these actions are taken.

  • I have also tried everything.  It is totally frustrating.  It happened once before.  I don't know why it works and then doesn't.  How hard can this be to fix this issue which has been frustrating people for years?

  • I do have the same problem on my Tactix Delta as well.

Sadly, Force-close the app didn't help.

    Anybody solve this problem yet?

  • Rebooting the watch worked for me.  Garmin vivoactive 3.  Samsung Galaxy S20

Had the issue with my Vivoactive 3 music where weather widget stopped working - I followed the instructions to close and re-start the app, I cleared the app cache, and un-synced and re-synced the device but it still didn't work.  Reached out to support and they suggested a hard reset:

    Hard Reset on vivoactive 3:

    • Press and hold the side button for 30+ seconds until the screen is completely blank
    • Leave off for a full minute
    • Press the side button again to power back on
    • Sync with Garmin Connect and connect your watch to GPS

Hard reset worked - weather is now active.

Had that not worked the advice was to try a factory reset:

Factory Reset on a Vivoactive 3:

    First

    • Please open the Garmin Connect app
    • Tap on More (iphone) or the 3 lines in the upper left corner of the app (android)
    • Tap Garmin Devices
    • Tap on your device listed there
    • Tap on the 3 dots in the upper right corner
    • Tap remove device

    Then

    • Open your phone settings
    • Then tap on Bluetooth
    • Locate your device
    • Tap on the symbol to the right
    • Unpair/Forget Device

    Restore Defaults on vivoactive 3:

    • Long-press the touchscreen
    • Swipe and tap Settings
    • Swipe and tap System
    • Swipe and tap Restore Defaults or Reset
    • Confirm
    • Select your Language
    • Confirm pairing with the Garmin Connect app

    Now

    • Open the Garmin Connect app
    • Tap Garmin Devices
    • Tap Add Device
    • Tap Browse All Compatible
    • Tap Vivo
    • Tap Vivoactive 3
    • A 6 digit code will appear on your watch and you will need to enter that into the app to complete the pairing process

Fortunately I did not have to go that route.
