Received the Vivoactive 3 for Christmas. After I set it up to receive smart notifications it would vibirate when I recieved an email, text message and phone calls, but then after the update a couple of days ago it no longer vibirates when I recieve a message. The small icon still shows on the watchface showing how many messages I have and I can view the message on the watch. Just doesn't vibirate. Any help is appreciated.
Check your vibration settings in your watch settings, sometimes an update can change your settings ( not sure why) and do a reset by holding in the button for 15-20 secs until watch turns off then start your watch again. I'm no expert but hope it helps and maybe one of the experts on here with much more knowledge will have a fix. Good Luck!
Thanks for the response. I did find that vibration setting is set to high, but did check the phone setting a little closer and found that the setting "not during activity" was set to off. Turned in on and have cycled the watch off and then on again. The watch will now show notification for emails on the watch face and vibrate, will show incoming calls, but not vibrate and will not show text message notifcation or vibrate. I had the vivoactive prior this that worked great, now getting a little disappointed with what I thought was suppose to be an upgrade. Again this was all working without problem prior to the update. For inofmation my phone is a LG 6.
Have you checked in the mobile connect app, settings-smart notifications and turned on / added the notifications you want? I had a problem after one update where it turned off my notifications and I had to add / turn them back on. I'm not sure why but just check. Hope it helps!
Thanks again Redmoonstar, but I have made sure all the notifications settings are turned on the wtach itself and in the connect app,but unfortuantley it still not working. Hello Spencer71, yes I have done a hard reset. In fact I have done a complete system reset to all default settings and then a hard reset, but still no luck. I still thinking there is a fault of some sort in the 2.80 update. Reading some of the post it looks like the update has caused several different issues with the VA 3. Guess my next try will be to contact Garmin to see if they have any soultions.
Just wanted to update everyone and again say thanks for the responses. I have finally got all notifications working (calls, email and text). After doing a complete reset of everything to include uninstalling Garmin Connect and Garmin Express, reset all defalut settings on the watch and hard reset (later learned might not have been needed afterall) I could get the notifications for phone calls and emails to work correctly, but not text messages. My phone is a LG G6, but was using verizon messenger+ as my text app. Decided to switch back to LG's default app and see if it would work and it did. I tested it several times and each time would recieve the text notification and it would vibrate. I then switched back to verizon app it then worked. Looks like all I needed was to just resest to the text app. Still believe the update had something to do with this due to it all working prior to update, but guess the moral to the story is don't let your frustrations make you forget the easist of solutions in your troubleshooting.:D
But still agree with several posters the vibration strength seems to me to be a lot weaker than the older version VA that I had before the VA3.
Hi, Does anyone had issue with very gentle vibrations for incomining calls and texts? I noticed that for daily goals and laps vibrations are much more intense. Is that a known issue? Thank you in advance.
Some of us have issues with vibration they are softer than my VAHR and I noticed that my alerts in activity were stronger than my notification alerts, I also had a very soft alarm but after 2.8 my vibration alerts were improved (still not as strong as my VAHR) my alarm now wakes me and I feel most of my notifications.Try doing a hard reset (hold the button for 15-20 secs until watch turns off) then if it doesn't turn back on within a min turn it back on( I think the watch is supposed to restart but mine never has )make sure you have the latest software (now 2.9) and many on here have found doing a reset after a software update also helps.I do this after each update thanks to the people on this forum.
Has battery to do anything with notification vibrations? I have VA3M and today I went down 40% of battery and I noticed that phone is connected and when I get notifications, the watch face shows count of notifications. When I go to widget of notification, I can see all available there but watch ia not vibrating or showing full notification when it comes. I also noticed that watch wont light up when I raise my wrist too. Has anyone experience something like this? Is it due to battery or there is a problem?
JayPatadiya The battery drop of 40% shouldn't affect your vibrating alerts. Try holding your power button in for about 10-15 seconds to restart the watch. This usually helps with glitches like this. Just remember to go outside and get a good GPS fix afterwards or you may be waiting awhile for GPS for your next activity. My concern would be why I had a 40% drop in battery level. Did you do an activity with GPS enabled?
