Running, tracking both KM's and Miles

Hello,

I'll run my first ever marathon, next week in NYC. I bought my vivoactive 3 also for this, and enjoyed using it in my first two runs for it.
However, I set it to kms, for the auto-lap feature a lap is 1 km. But as I'm not sure the GPS will be 100% accurate (I noticed some difference between my watch and runtastic on my iPhone on these runs , even if I trust the watch more) and the distance indications will be every mile (in km's too, but only every 5 kms), do I have any possibility to see on my watch how many kms and how many miles I have run?
Ideally, I would track two different laps, but I don't think it's possible. Another possibility is to keep the watch in kms, but make one lap = 1.61km, but I find it more useful to keep it at 1 lap = 1km, as it's what I'm used to.

Any suggestions?
  • You can get a CIQ datafield called something like 'opposite distance' which allows you to see miles ran when you are set up for Kms or the other way around. You can also get a similar field for pace.

thanks.... but I've to admit I didn't really understand your answer.
What is a "CIQ datafield" please?
  • Go to your device in Garmin Connect (PC)

Click on the link for connect-iq store

    Choose Data Fields

Then search for the field you want "Distance in Opposite Units"

You can then install this on the watch and add it as a custom field to one of your screens that you use for running

The connect IQ store is available on Connect Mobile Too
