Activities with no pause option?

Hi,

is saw a video from a VA4/FR245 Test (VA4 = Venu).

Is it true with the latest software that you cat pause activities? You walk and make a pause in a restaurant.....with the FR245 you can oause you activitie as long as you like - with the VA4 you CANT. You can "pause" but after 15 minutes it will be saved and ended.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFZpvRy5AWA (but its german) in ~11:30 minutes.

regards

  • Unfortunately, it does not work at the venu.

  • I did not understand what garmin think as they develop it.

"Yes, we are a sport-tracker company but our customers should by, for this feature, 500€ devices instead of that cheap 370€ device"

Im out. Realy. This black piano lack bezel to make the little screen look wider? This bugs all over the device? Im not happy with that because i realy want to go back to garmin and im willing to pay...but my 120€ Huawei Watch GT active make a lot of things better, some not....but fpr 120€ this is not relevant.

"You have to buy a Forerunner 245" - nice try, no barometer. So take a VA4 for 60 bucks more and you have a barometer - yes, but i cant track my activity with a pause >15 minutes"...OK, take a 500€ fenix for all of it.

    No

  • There is an "auto pause" option, but it doesn't work well indoors since the GPS will jump around and the watch will think you're moving. I agree that this was a really dumb decision - hopefully it gets fixed in a firmware update.

  • The guy in the video said.

"You have no Pause Option. You only can stop your activitiy. After that you can save or delete the record. You cant continue your activity after a pause"....as you drink a bit, eat...whatever, make a pause somewehere.

    That makes realy no sense.

  • Yesterday i did a long hiking (8 hours Tracking) and stopped in a restaurant for around 1h with no problems. The watch stays in the Save/cancel screen. I also can not say that it stops after 15 minutes, maybe i played around (go to watch face, looked on datafield while stopped) that the timer was new triggered... A good "Resume" function like on Forerunner/Fenix devices whould be nice. But overall it works fine and i had no issues.

Beside this: after 8 hours, i had 61% battery left, that´s nice and more than enough for a long day hike... I turned always on display of (only per arm move) to be shure.

Than wonders me. Becaue i have the same problem like @ explained. When i go for a walk or drive bicycle and make a pause for eat something or whatever. the activity will save automaticly after five mins without fourther request. Since the new Update 3.60 its ask at least after five mins and warns you, that the activity will be saved in 30 seconds.

but i would also like that i can save the activity and resume it later again. unfortunately i didnt read before that its not possible by the Vivoactive. Also i didnt read that the vivoactive 4 has no hiking. What a luck that it has indoor stairs climb. because indoor stairsclimbing is much more widespread than hiking :D

Taking the opportunity we are talking about auto-pause, any idea on how to turn the feature off? I could not find any directions in the manual, this forum, Google search, YouTube, etc. There is only instruction on how to turn it on, but not off. I am thankful for any help. Best wishes, Flavia

  • You mean how to turn off auto pause option? If yes It is really simple... Select the activity, for example RUN, scroll down on the watch screen and there are settings. Under this menu there is auto pause  - 3 options. Hope this help.

  • Was this resolved by a software update? I'm considering the VA4, but this would be really an issue for me. It's hard to choose the right watch from the garmin line up. It's really confusing VA4 has the barometric sensor, but no pause (???). FR245 doesn't have the sensor, but there is a pause.
