Brand new Venu Sq - Can't install update.

Bought a Venu Sq for one of my children as a Christmas gift. They just unwrapped it and I plugged it into my PC in order to install any needed updates. However, the update is failing with a 'device memory full' error.

We literally just turned it on, so there are no activities to download. Looking at the Venu Sq through Windows Explorer, it shows 16mb of memory with 10.1mb used and 4.99mb available. The update is 6.53mb in size, so obviously it won't fit.

Any suggestions on what can be done to fix this?

Hi, you need to download garmin express to the pc then plug the watch into the pc and run express. It will try and download the update there. Sometimes the update is more than one file so it will install one at a time. There may be a few optional files you can remove temporarily under activities and apps also.

Hi, I was using Garmin Express...that's where I saw the 'device memory full' error...

Look under activities and apps, there are a few that are “extras” downloaded onto there like hydration, menstrual cycle etc. Remove those for now. Also remove all but one of the onboard watch faces and see if that does the trick.
