I don't see any mention of this in the current online manual for the Vector 3. At least not in the battery change section. Over time it gums up the battery compartment a bit, and the battery terminals are a little fragile for frequent cleaning.

Not really necessary if you are using the C1/3N single battery per side
I just got new Vector 3 pedals by in-warranty replacement. I have the same question.
What I do note is that the new pedals arrived with batteries installed already but without mineral oil. They are the 1/3N format.
I’ve taken one 45-mile ride so far with the new pedals and there were no anomalies, but in the past it has taken a while for things to start acting up.
I guess for now I’ll leave the batteries “dry” and see how it goes. I’d certainly rather not have to bother with the oil and it does make things messy.
