But I'm still using my Assioma's and might keep doing that. I think I was one of the first ones to blow the bells and whistles about the issues. But I just couldn't resist a black Friday offering to just about half the price for a dual set!
Afterall - the V3's has the looks. Got to give them that ;-)
But also and mainly, Shane Miller confirms that the issues has been resolved over time. His latest test (youtube it) shows great results. Just one very minor comment: the pedals do need to settle in. This will take a few hard efforts, but then it should be all good.
I have the opportunity to return them until january ends. But I'll probarly end up keeping them - following closely how people are experiencing them.
Like I said - they do look really nice and they have some cool features I like. And for half the price, this is actually a no-brainer ;-)
In my case it wasn't, I had two new pairs with the latest door revision and firmware, both started dropping and spiking after their first battery change. In case you are wondering, I followed all procedures to the letter including the baby oil on all contact areas and could not resolve the issue with my known good quality digikey supplied energizer SR44's.
Instead, I returned them and purchased the Assioma Duo's which in my opinion are a superior product. The pedal bodies have a more reassuring cleat engagement with a solid click, the bearings spin smoother, the pods are not noticeable and blend in against the crank arms, cornering clearance is marginally better, and they will get Ant+ Cycling Dynamics with the next firmware, all for a lower cost then the Garmin Vector 3's.
I own lots of Garmin stuff and think highly of their products, so I'm not saying this to be anti-Garmin, but they really did drop the ball with this power meter, and I recommend you save yourself the frustration.
No, we're on our THIRD set - fine till the first battery change then the right senor missing returned - cleared itself somehow, changed batteries again and - right sensor missing - also batteries lasting 1 month - 50hrs riding
Almost flawless on todays indoor ride... "Almost" because I had some very minor although many cadence hickups (which then effectively affected wattage). I'm not sure whether that was related to riding Zwift today and Rouvy yesterday (that ride was absolutely flawless). Cadence and wattage was only for a 1s or so...?! Oh almost forget; on today's Zwift ride Cycling Dynamics was off.
