Edit Data in Garmin Connect

@ Garmin support: I am very dissapointed about the lack of editing function on garmin connect. The Garmin Swim produces some bad data, so a lot of functions (eg averages, min/max pace) are useless. I will return my watch if there is no chance to edit my data in near future.

Any updates on this Issue from Garmin? How long time can it take to make this option? It can not be right that it take so long to come up with a correction to an issue so well known. Any suggestions to what we need to do to get this moving on the priority list? Just an acknowledgement from Garmin and a planned release day of the feature would be great.

Yes garmin Please please please update this so that we can do some fundemental edits. So far I feel I am burning more calories trying to find a workaround to the swim data issue than in training.

The Garmin Connect "team" doesn't appear to track this forum nearly as closely (at all) as the dev teams for the current product lines. Edit on fields on Run/Bike/Swim would be a huge enhancement. If you take the time to look at the updates posted for "Connect" it seems like the "Connect Team" is comprised of significantly less the one FTE. Having end-of-lifed TC, Connect is our tool for using our gadgets and Garmin doesn't appear to be investing in our continued happiness once we've tossed in our cash.

At this point I've got a foot pod/heart monitor/405 and have been looking at the 910/powertap/concept 2 pm4/tanita. The potential is huge but the investment in data management is lacking.

There should be some kind of service model that covers the development costs of keeping the customer base happy. If you charged me a few bucks a month and that paid for a couple of full time FTE's to deliver continuous enhancements over and above basic maintenance I think I would be a lot more happy with Connect. I'd rather that service was included in the purchase price of my hardware but I'm only going to buy new hardware when the bugs are worked out. Being a free beta tester for retail priced hardware isn't the best answer for anyone and certainly won't have me buying the new hardware/feature set early and often. Would I love to buy a 910XT? Absolutely. Will I, instead, buy a 310XT instead because the 910 feature set still won't be mature when the next multi-function hardware is delivered in 2014'ish? Good chance.

And the thing is it's not really a question of buying the cheaper hardware. Instead it's a matter of buying the more mature hardware/software infrastructure.

Hope you guys are reading this. Do love the gadgets but they could easily be blowing us away with some better investment in software/services. Heck... If there's anyone crazy enough... Open Source? Cisco did it with their little retail linux based routers and the results have been pretty spectacular.

If the ROMs were open sourced these bugs/missing features would get plugged pdq on the device side.
  • Please allow editing in Connect - there can be loads of reasons ( both from Garmin and the user) for the need to correct mistakes - we all like to have the proper data recorded

+1 To this request! I tried the Garmin Swim out for the first time this evening and it falsely identified a turn and I want to correct this data.
  • What's about that

Hello community! There is no doubt that your request is a valid one. In situations where data is off a little, an edit feature specific to swim data in Garmin Connect would be nice. Those of us monitoring the forum for issues, new ideas, etc...have collected a handful of these threads and forwarded to the Garmin Connect Team for consideration. While we can't promise a quick addition of an edit feature for swim data, we will continue to gather and share information for this request.

Garmin team, Could you please update us how this request is going on? It's clear that needs any solution. Thanks, JACM

Editing of the data is essential and, it seems, long overdue...

Yes: Editing of the data is essential! Whether it's an error of the watch (which happens very rarely, but every 10k or so there's a random 25m), or for something else (e.g. I forgot to press the start button and want to add the laps and approx. time that had been left out), there are many good and valid reasons why one would want to edit/add the times, lengths, styles.

The first post in this thread dates back to August last year, i.e. it's seven months since then, apparently with no response from the Garmin team other than an early assurance that the request has been forwarded. While this is not resolved, I do not feel confident in recommending the watch to others, as much as I like it and find it truly amazing how accurate the watch is (although when doing backstroke there is a lot of variability in the recorded turning points, which affects the time/pace measurement).
  • please allow editing - surely its not that hard to do
  • Any word from Garmin on implementing this highly requested feature?
What is the point of recording, uploading then viewing the data if its bad? For that matter what is the point of using (or buying) the product in the first place?
There should be a way to edit this erroneous data.

    +1

I just bought a Garmin Swim and am also rather disappointed that I can't manually fix bad swim data. I would have expected to be able to do at least the following through Garmin Connect:

    1) merge two laps into one or split one lap in two
    2) correct the stroke type

I'll second that sentiment. Bought mine which arrived Saturday. Like it. But it clearly has room for improvement!
