Low heart rate - walking activity

FR 935, FW 19.10

I am getting very low heart rate rates from the OHR during walking activities. Running heart rates seem fine.

2.55 miles, 295 ft  gain, 78 bpm average, 3.5 mph

look at the two large sudden drops in heart rate. Not likely.

1.85 miles, 220 ft  gain, 64 bpm average, 3.6 mph

64 bpm? That’s like sitting down!

My resting heart rate is usually 50-52. So, 64 bpm is not quite sitting, but it’s not far from it.

The OHR often performs poorly in my experience. When walking or running, it can lock into your cadence (or half the cadence) instead of the pulse since every step and bounce also induces a brightness variation in the OHR sensor due to the watch moving on your arm. The watch should be snug against your arm to minimize the chance of this happening. For me that didn't always help which is why I use a chest strap when I really need accurate HR data.
