I am now studing in Spain, but after 2 weeks , I must go back my country?China. I have some questions now.(If I buy a forerunner 935 in spain.)
1: when I go back my country, can I use it in my country? is the GPS accurate like European country?
2: Do I need to preload a chinese map for my forerunner 935? and how to download them(english version)? I want to use an English version, and I do not want to use a Chinese version.

Moreover, what do you recommand? I must buy a chinese version of 935 in my country or english version ?
  • Buy in your own country otherwise if something goes wrong you'd have problems getting it sorted .
  • The Forerunner is not a navigation device, there are no built-in maps. If you buy the 935 from another country, you can't receive Simplified Chinese text on the watch.

zhang The GPS will work in China. If you want one with English and the price in China is too high, buy one while in Spain. The only downside could be support/exchange if it came to that.
  • if you are going to use english only, then buy the eu version. i live in the states and bought it here but found out that i got the eu version. the model # ended with 04 and not 00. same thing. you will get the latest firmware release right away and do not have to wait for the apac version. regarding the gps, i think there are no difference between the versions. gps, glonass or galileo.

Thank you very much, the last question: how does the eu version record the distance? miles or kilometers? Because Chinese people are used to record them in kilometers .

Thank you very much, I will buy it in Spain.

Thank you again, I decide to buy it in Spain.
  • myfric, could you clarify this a bit more please

Garmin watches are language specific. It's not just ROW and APAC. I live in Thailand and the APAC version we have here has English, Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian, and Indonesian. The APAC version sold in Taiwan has English and Traditional Chinese. The APAC version sold in China has English and Simplified Chinese. I'm sure there are other APAC variants such as Korean, etc. There are pricing differences as well, for example the Taiwan APAC one includes RD Pod without extra charge.

The available language affects both menu and display language. If you receive text on a Garmin watch in an unsupported language, you only get blocks. This is like OS's or mobile phones from 15-20 years ago. Modern OS's and phones all support worldwide languages, even if there are regions and operators, they can display all languages.

Many people here can read more than two Asian languages and Garmin is really backwards in this regard.
