Bluetooth operating distance

I'm looking at trading my FR235 for the 935. On the 235 my watch connects to my android phone up to about 10 - 20m's away but after that it disconnects. Its a bit frustrating walking around the house with it vibrating on and off all the time.

So I'm wondering what the Bluetooth range is like on the 935. And is it better than wifi?
  • Bluetooth doesn't have a lot of range. 10-20 meters is normal. Not sure about the 235, but on the 935 you can toggle the Bluetooth connection alerts by going to Settings > Phone > Alerts.
  • The BT signal is inconsistent for me around my home. I don't mean this in a bad way; I just can't nail-down the range because it is bizarre. I've been right across the house on my second floor with a number of rooms separating my watch and phone and being approx 20-30 ft removed from it and it still being connected, but I've also gone into my home from the garage and left the phone outside, and it loses signal (and be less than 10 ft away)

Part of me thinks distance isn't the only problem, nor is it also just what is coming between your phone and the watch. I think the phone model itself plus whatever BT unit it is employing plays a factor.
  • Wifi is better then bluetooth and way less vulnerable to disturbances (for example an object between sender and receiver)
  • FlipStone I guess it depends on many factors but for me my watch stays connected to wifi round the whole of my (not very big) 3 bed house and generally to the end of my garden - about 60 ft

Bluetooth drops in and out around the house but definitely drops out when I get more than a couple of feet outside my backdoor. I have a 935 but I wouldn't expect to see a huge difference between the different devices. AndrewMc1 is there not an option to turn off the notification - I love the 935 but unless you want the other features it's a lot of money to pay just to stop a buzz!!

Thanks all. I ended up getting the 935 and blue tooth range pretty much the same. Its not a problem though.

The battery life was the main thing I was looking for as I need to record a 10+ hour activity and I didn't really want to try to charge on the run.
