Firmware 9.60 Galileo support

Sweet, now i just have to wait a few more hours to get that :p
  • Still nothing here...

@Garmin-Joey - It would be nice to have a Galileo only option :
    GPS
    GPS+Glonass
    GPS+Galileo
    Galileo

As well as a GPS info screen to see what's going on, you know like on the old FR205 !!!

the only options that i got are,
    Normal (GPS Only)
    GPS+GLONASS
    GPS+GALILEO
    UltraTrac

thats the only options i can find ..... any clue where to find the rest??
  • There is no rest, that´s it. Maybe Garmin will let us access all three some day but today it is what it is :)
  • Right now, not all Galileo satellites are commission, or even in space, so literally, "Your Mileage May Vary" based on where you are in relation to the active satellites...
  • @jim - is there any way to display info on satellites being used in the fix with CIQ?

Also is it me or have the fonts been slightly modified in the latest version? Not obvious except in the recovery time screen at the end of a run to my eyes.

Ah and of course they reset the Max Sport HR, so go check it if you don't want your VO2max to get messed up. When is that going to be corrected ?!
  • There's no way to get satellite data with CIQ... You're phone might be able to do it, based on what's supported in it's HW/SW. But I've seen were it does really vary based on people with phones that support it. (mine always shows 0, but it's an older phone that might not have the HW for it)

CIQ wise, the fonts look the same to me (they are the same on the f5/f5x and the f5 plus devices per the simulator)

Since the update to 9.60 my watch app (CleanAnalogPlus) no longer is able to get Latitude and Longitude correctly and is only showing 0.0 0.0. The result is it can no longer calculate sunrise and sunset properly. On a Vivoactive 3, identical version of CleanAnalogPlus it still works as expected showing correct Latitude and Longitude and also calculates Sunrise and Sunset correctly. I am not sure what they have changed in 9.60 but I expect it is no longer logging the location information to history any more.

Thanks for looking into this, not sure what happened with the fonts or with what I saw but they indeed do look like they used ot be, hum...

Too bad about satellite data, the little sat screens on the FR205 (maybe even FR405) with the signal level and sats used in the fix were nice to look at. As for phones, on Android you'll need an app like GPS Test or GPS Toolbox. It wasn't possible with my iPhones 3G/3GS/4s and I doubt Apple has added that possibility since ;-)

I wish Garmin would let you just download the firmware if you want to, rather than having to wait for whenever it happens to be rolled out to you...

It actually makes sense, they ensure their servers are not overloaded, common practice in tge industry.

I understand why they do it this way in general. However I don't see why they can't also offer the firmware to download, as they do with betas, for the tiny minority of people who read these forums and are keen early adopters.
  • Get over it. It's only a matter of a couple of days.
