Forerunner 935 - Rash caused by the bracelet

Former Member

Hello,

I've purchased a Garmin Forerunner 935, and I intend to use it 24/7 has an activity tracker also.

Nevertheless, the stock bracelet is causing me a rash on my wrist, has you can see in the photo.

In the past I?ve used 24/7 a Garmin Vivofit and more recently a Garmin Vivosmart HR without experiencing any issue.

Does anyone have experience the same rash?

Thanks,

I have never heard this before. You learn something new everyday.

As for irritation, the material can play a factor, but the user's skin also can play a factor. A buddy of mine who also has a 935 with a similar build but drastically different "irritation" tolerance. Nothing gives me a rash unless there's a deliberate thing done to cause one while my friend gets raw skin under wrist under the easiest of situations (Last summer we took a walk of 4 miles together and the band gave him a 'burn'). I don't know how he deals with it all the time, but he does. In his case it's not exclusive to the garmin bands--he had the same issue with his old Ambit 3 and m400.
  • I have the same problem. I contacted Garmin, and they did send me a Fenix 5 strap which is made from a different material than the 935, but that too caused a rash, or sometimes it looked like a friction burn. My advice is to just clean to the watch daily, and maybe don't wear it for sleeping, wear it a little loose, but tighten the strap for exercising (basically all the advice already posted.) I did try a knock off brand band from Amazon, and it seems to work the best, but the clasps (tang buckle) fell off, so I ended up using the knockoff strap, but the tang buckle from the Fenix 5. I have had a slew of gps watches over 14 years, and never had this problem but this is the only watch that I wear 24/7, so that must certainly contribute. Otherwise, the 935 is a great watch. Good luck.
  • As mentioned above many many people experience irritation caused by watch straps whether on fitness watches or just a normal timepiece. As per philipshambrook I'm sure that the need to wear the watch tighter to get HR readings must contribute. It is a very individual thing and depends on your own physiology as well as your behaviour and habits.

I take my watch off after every run and drop it in the bath along with my HRM whilst the bath fills up - I then dry it before putting back on.

I occasionally get irritation on the wrist at which point I swap it to the other wrist for as long as it takes the irritation to subside.

I'd also add that the tendency to wear them 24/7 for sleep tracking must contribute also to irritation for those with more sensitive skin.

  • Just to say that I have the same issue. I plan to contact Garmin support this afternoon.

I used to have a 935 with the green band - I used that for 2 years with no issues.

I have just replaced it and put the black band on - this is what is causing the issues.

Are the materials for the different bands different?

I think that the black band is more elastic, so you have to do it up tighter to make the watch HRM work...

Did you end up contacting Support? If so, did anything come out of the conversation? Still haven't found a solution for this issue, other than "don't wear the watch".
