Pace alert not available?

Hi All,
Something I used heavily on my Fenix 3 when running was a pace alert, if I ran below a certian speed to alert me.

I went to use this setting on special even we had here in Brisbane Australian (Bridge to Brisbane) to my surprise the option is not there?

The online manual suggest it should be https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/forerunner935/EN-US/GUID-E9B4413D-28EB-4054-8622-5CCD3F4571D2.html

I have available the following alerts for the Run activity
Proximity
Cadence
Distance
Heart Rate

Under Add New:
Run/Walk > Set Run time > Set Walk time
Time
Calories
Elevation

Under Custom:
Drink
Eat
Turn Around
Go Home
Custom ? Time or Distance

Anyone else confirm this is the same for them?

  • I have pace alerts available in the Run app.
  • Works fine for me

    Start the run activity
    Long press up button,
    Run Settings
    Alerts
Select Pace, you have a Fast and a Slow alert.
  • Present here as well:

Run Activity -> Menu -> Run Settings -> Alerts -> Add New -> Pace
  • Too be precise, you can reinstall the SETTINGS.FIT file but it appears that restoring previous activities affects the alerts within the activities. Someone's just reported in another thread that reseting the activity back to its defaults recovers the missing alerts.
  • To add to this, how usefull is the pace alert on the FR935? Wrt accuracy...

I think I'll try it with my run later today, gonna do a 10k tempo run and set it to a pace of between 3:50 and 4:10 which hopefully is broad enough to not drive me crazy with alerts because of pace fluctuations... Anyone with experience with this?
  • Not used them with the 935 but have with 310, 910 and 920 and found them to be ok. The trick, as you have done, is to set a band wide enough. The pacing also only really works where you can maintain a steady pace, i.e. on flat courses.

Maybe a GC workout would work better. Pace alerts are from average lap time rather than instant pace, so less likely to be upset by GPS noise.

    Thanks, still not listed
  • some more background needed...

did you restore previously saved settings

    you could try...

remove defective run activty and reinstall a new one..retry your pace alert
    or
make a new run activity and leave the old run activity(or run app like they call it these days)...retry your pace alert

    did not help...
reset your 935...do not reinstall previous saved settings

    have fun trying...

    I think I did do a restore from my Fenix 3 ...

Removed Run and re-added it, tried turning watch off and on, in-between, also tried via Garmin Express still no luck

That did it, resetting the app to defaults, obviously removes any alerts and customisations but now when I go into adding an alert, it's there again.
