any "hardware" for charging fr935 on wrist when i run ?
  • Nope, but wear a HRM And then you can charge it not on the wrist during an activity.

Garmin remove some useful functionalities and add failed technology :( , like OHR! What are your tools to make charging possible?
  • Just use the charging cable and a USB power pack and it will charge whilst still recording. Obviously you can?t wear it at the same time but you could loop it through a belt and put the charger in your pocket or something similar.
  • Not me (unless you call 8 laps at Endure24 an Ultra). I suspect you'd get 50 miles on a single charge (depending on your pace) but not 100miles (unless you are really quick)
  • When I charge mine from a small USB power bank after selecting 'resume later' on an activity I get about 1% increase per minute. If you are running an ultra where the normal battery life is not sufficient and you don't want to use ultratrac, I think the answer is to charge the watch during all your stops (right from the very first one). 10 minutes of charging during a stop will give you almost 2 hours of additional use. If you stop and charge for 10 minutes every 4 hours you'll get about 35 hours of battery life this way. If your stops are longer and/or more frequent you'll soon get to a point were you can break even and keep the watch going indefinitely.

I will run UTMB soon, after some test's it give me 20% of remaining bat. in 18h30 of activity. So, it is short to run all race without charging. Other aspect, i have proximity alerts on watch and it work good on wrist not on pocket . Buy other watch is insane , i have Fenix3 and it have charge on go, but not have Proximity Alerts. Garmin make watchs but not for users... oHR is not for runners...why it is present on Fenix5 and FR935 ? it is a good hardware to fr235 or fr25 not for high end watchs, it is good for show to friends, walk or normal day life not for races. I think 95% of racer users not use or dont like this tech.

    Are you running ultras?
  • Was thinking about this last night. Could you perhaps make a "sponge" with a hole in it for the USB cable and then wear your watch over it (bit like a bike mount) when charging. OK you lose OHR but by the sound of it you don't use it anyway.

I did also see if you could wear the watch upside down for a bit while you charged. Sort of possible with the normal strap although hard to get tight. Maybe the QuickFit bands would be better?

Personally I would probably want to take 2 devices with me anyway if only for "backup". Also if I ever did something for more than 20 hours (not at all likely!), I would surely have to stop for a bit which is when would charge.

Please speak for yourself, OHR was one of my reasons for buying this. And for me it works fine, also in races... If you don't want to use it, then disable it but don't assume that because you don't have a use for it that nobody does. Doesn't take away from the fact that the charging thing is annoying though. And I'd say battery is good enough for >95% of the users...

Also, when disabling OHR and settings to GPS only (and smart recording maybe) you should be able to get 24 hrs of use. If you run more then 24hr continuously then that would be an issue, but if you rest somewhere you can just use a external battery with the cable right? Sure, not ohr (which you will not use anyway) at that time but at least you can recharge a bit... Although I don't know if you can keep recording during charging...

    You can.
