FR935 WiFi issues

My FR935 has trouble connecting to WiFi. Have tried several access points, with WPA/WPA2 and Open networks, but all the time my watch gets "Network error" message. At the same time my old F3 has no troubles connecting to those networks. I have done couple of resets, reverted my watch to factory settings, but no luck.

Has anyone had same kind of problems with FR935 and WiFi?
  • Hmmm, no issue here it seems... Not sure when auto-sync works so I do (have to) press the manual sync on the watch quite often but that could also be my impatience... (Auto-sync has worked as well a few times).

WPA2-Personal AES here, auto-channel select but excluding 12-13.

Heard channel 12-13 gives issues and some users advice setting a fixed channel, but don't need that in my case...

Even if you try different access points, but you have single main router where your internet comes in, it might be that the router is the issue.

I had a very odd issue with my 920XT 2 years ago where the router's maximum UDP packet size was 512 bytes, and only when I increased it to 1024 bytes, then my 920XT would connect.

I suggest you try a different network outside of your house or office, maybe a friend's or family member's network and see if that makes a difference. Just to rule out any issues in your own environment.
  • Contacted Garmin Support and they advised that this is obvious RMA case. But unfortunately Garmin Europe does not send replacement devices Internationally and there is no approved distributor in Estonia, I'm stuck with a faulty device (two actually, my F3 has battery drain issue, that caused me to by the FR in the first place). Closest distributor is in Latvia and I have had no luck in getting in touch with them.

So, if you live in a country with no Garmin distributor, think twice before you decide to buy a Garmin device. If you get a faulty one, only possibility you have is to return it to seller if possible...

    Really unhappy customer...
  • Have you contacted the seller then?

Yes, of course I can eventually take this issue to seller and get things resolved otherwise, but I bought this online from Germany and again, so much hassle that could be resolved by product support instead. The only problem here is Garmin Europe's policy not to send replacement devices outside UK...

Did you try HermoT's suggestion? At the very least it would give you more insight into the problem. If indeed it turns out to be an issue with your home network, you might be able to troubleshoot it and avoid returning the watch.

My first point of call is always the retailer. They have much more to lose than Garmin. As for your comment about Garmin Europe not sending replacements outside UK. Hadn't realised UK was part of Europe lol!

How are you setting up the wifi networks? Via Garmin Express on your PC or some other way?
