GPS problem

Hi,
after my old 735 stopped working, I got my new replacement 735. I started everything just like the old one.
unfortunately the GPS doesn't work. I tried for more than 10 minutes to be in open space and the first bar keeps blinking without any signal. when I ran I didn't have a route.
I don't know if it is related, but the watch had the 9.1 version and was updated the first time I connected it to my phone to 9.4.
does anybody know what I can do?
  • In "Menu / Settings / System / About" check GPS version. Should be 3.30. If it reads 0.0, then it means that GPS chip firmware update failed for some reason.

    And another thing:
Sometimes, in unfavourable conditions, a GPS cold start can take more than 10 minutes. Sync your watch with Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express, and then give it another try, under clear sky if possible.
  • And how can that GPS 0.0 problem be solved?

tmk2, thanks so much for the quick response!
    my GPS version is 3.30.
I tried again for longer, the GPS just doesn't receive signal at all. could it still be the firmware?
I will contact Garmin tomorrow if it doesn't work.
  • I think that it's a hardware problem.
  • Mine suddenly taking a lot longer to acquire a signal about a month ago. I have been traveling a lot, but even after acquiring a signal in a new location, it seem to "forget it" the next time I use it and start searching from scratch. Recently it only indicated GPS found after ~15 minutes into a run. Oddly, it seems to measure the distance correctly and when I look at the map page it then shows the trail from the start, as if it used breadcrumbs along the way. So it is possible it is working but the GPS bars/acquired message are not. I have 9.40, GPS version 3.30
