Hi all,
Anyone having experiences with Garmin Vision (Head up display) and the 735?
Thanks,
Frank
Yup I do have the Varia Vision and Varia Radar both. The Varia Vision works well with the 725 for core metrics (Speed, Distance, Power, etc.) and is easy to use (connects every time without doing anything and stays connected) and easy to read (thought I might have issues as I need reading glasses, but it is very clear to read). Only a few minor issues I would point out; some metrics like ConnectIQ fields do not transmit to the Varia Vision and Strava Segments and Navigation also do not show up on it (although I have not tested Navigation in a while and the last firmware update mentioned something about Navigation so that may work now).
Let me know if you have any questions, happy to answer or try things out.
Hi CHIMPWARE, TIMGROSE,
As I'm 48 years old and also needing glasses for reading, I was wondering when the image is projected on the glasses if it is still very readable. I have plastic lenses I put into my sport glasses.
Have you run with it? Does it bounce or get annoying in any way?
I am 51 and have reading lenses in all my sport glasses. The Varia Vision is a small screen, not a projection as @martinm1 mentioned, and is easy to read without corrective lenses even though I do require them for reading normally. I cannot explain why this works, but I can read it very clearly.
I tried running with it a couple of times and did not like the experience. I run very evenly without a lot of bounce at training paces, and it did bounce a little and was a little heavy using it this way on your nose (I guess from small bouncing). I would say it could be used running, but I did not like it. If you have any real vertical motion in your running I would say it would not work very well.
Use radar, vision and 735 and love it. Works better than expected. Note, the image is not projected on your glasses. It is just a tiny screen that you position as you like in front of your glasses and it is very clear and in focus even though I need reading glasses.

Thanks for the quick answers!

However I'm a little bit disappointed I bought the Garmin 920XT (just last December) which I love very much but it doesn't support the Garmin Vision.
I'm also a happy owner of the Garmin Edge 1000 which is compatible with the Garmin Vision. It must be great to use navigation when cycling, for running I find this less important. I also understand this "navigation feature" would be less feasible to support on the 920XT.
BTW the Garmin Varia Radar I love very much as a very good safety gadget that works perfectly with my Edge 1000. Also here I made the move from my still perfect working Edge 800 to Edge 1000 mainly for this nice peripheral. But moving to the 735XT for the same reason would be tough... :(
Best regards,
Frank
