Strava segments - lon duration to sync

It occured to me that when GC is syncing strava segments, it takes a long time (5-10 minutes). The sync intervals are random and also happen during the night, this is causing problems:
- Stopped detection of sleep
- Didn't reset daily totals

Might be because of the number of segments (50), is that too much? How much segments do other members have?

  • Originally I had over 150 and was taking lots of time and it did seem to be effecting battery.
I've pruned it down a lot to more like 25 or so and seems a lot better. I now tend to star and unstar ones according to what routes am about to do or have just done and so may no longer need.
Not entirely sure delete segments is working so have also tried deleting everything in SEGMENTS and the SEG_LIST file and resynching.
Also seems to work more consistently through GE although I have had them turning up OK via the app but another reason perhaps not to have too many at any one time.

I don't think Segment deletion works and I feel this is a bug. When you unstar something on Strava side and sync, a file gets generated in \newfiles of 735xt which one would assume would result in corresponding deletion of the segment on the watch. But, nothing happens.

As Tim suggests, I also delete the segments and SEG_LIST file manually until Garmin decides to fix this one more bug ...
