DCR Tests - 735XT vs. V800 vs. Ambit3 Peak

I downloaded Ray's data comparing the 735XT with Polar V800 (arguably the GPS watch standard for track accuracy) and I also included the Suunto Ambit 3 Peak.

My view is that overall the 735XT outperforms the V800 and the Ambit 3 Peak on this run for track accuracy, but Peak is close. In any case very happy to see that 735XT is comparable or better than V800, put's that concern to bed for me (at least based on this data from one run....)

Main concern now is elevation data for the 735. Wonder why it is so bad in this test?

Well elevation is from GPS on the 735 and that graph rather exaggerates the few metre "spikes". Anyway on GC and Strava, the raw data would be replaced by that from an elevation model.

Yeah I thought that too, so I loaded the data into GC to check and here is the result:

with Elevation Correction enabled.

Very promising track from 735XT. Really gives hope for future products - i am especially counting on Fenix 4! :-)

Not sure what the heck happened to the V800 at the start. Had 100% signal, and even had an extra 30-40s to stabilize. Very odd.

Looks like the 735 & 920 tracks run very close to one another but the Vivo wanders a bit on those loops.

Indeed. Do keep in mind the Vivoactive HR is Smart Recording vs 1-second on the others, so some track display variation also due to that.

Ray, the elevation data again looks terrible for the 735. Any idea why that might be? Almost looks like there is something wrong with yours.

I agree, it looks horrible. Not sure what's up there, but another unit came today, so I'll try them both out tomorrow during a run and see if there's any difference.

Yeah, likely I'd take with me:

FR920XT (HRM-TRI)
Vivoactive HR
FR735XT
V800

And maybe an Ambit3, just depends.
