Can i only use my heart monitor(HRM DUAL) when i'm in activity?

Can i only use my heart monitor(HRM DUAL) when i'm in activity?When not in activity i can only use wrist monitor to see my heart rate. The heart monitor goes to sleep. If i turn off wrist monitor, i can't see my heart rate

    Using the HRM-Run and a generic bluetooth HRM strap, I could see it while not wearing my watch... but you need to connect to the strap from the Settings -> Sensors -> select your sensor and connect.
