Watch face reverting to default

I have the 645 (no music) and the other day I had to enter the settings of a watch face to amend the way it displays. Since I did that the watch will revert overnight to show the default watch face, and if I try to reapply the ConnectIQ one I can't do so - it shows on the watch screen with the ConnectIQ logo, but as if there is nothing there, and won't let me select it.

I need to enter the settings for my ConnectIQ watch again, let it sync, wait a few minutes and then it is available to select again. I have to do this every morning!

Any idea what's going on here and how to fix it?

I've had 2 updates to the Garmin app on my Android phone in the last few days and wondered whether that may be an issue, and I have installed the stand alone ConnectIQ app too.

EDIT: It looks as though it reverts to the default watch face at midnight, and when I try to change it back to the watch face I want I get this screen. The weird thing is though, I have a few downloaded watch faces installed, but it is only this particular watch face that has this problem.

I always have crash of watchfaces ( Cristal etc) when I set calories to 3000...

That means the watch face crashed. Use "Contract Developer" in the app store for that watchface and let the developer know. It's a bug with that specific watchface.

"IQ!" indicates that the CIQ app you are using crashed, and the developer may ask you for a log file from the watch to help fix the problem.

Happened to me few times also - 645M.

What I did is restart the watch and it is back to normal.

I am using Crystal but once this happened, all other watch faces cannot be used. Only the default one works.

But, it has operated perfectly normally up until now. The watch face itself hasn't been updated, I've had no firmware update to my watch (still on 4.2), the only update (and this could be entirely co-incidental) is for the Android Garmin Connect app.

The only time GCM interacts with the watch face is when you change settings.

But if you don't run crystal after you turn the watch off and back on, you don't see problems with other watch faces, correct?

OK, so if the watch firmware hasn't updated, and the watchface itself hasn't been updated, how/where would a bug just suddenly develop causing it to crash?

In the watch face. It could be something triggered it to take an unusual path in the code. I've found bugs in a couple of my CIQ apps that has been lurking for a long time for example. Contact the developer, and he may request \primary\garmin\apps\logs\ciq_log.yml, as that file provides info on why the watch face crashed.

I've had this about 3 times recently too along with a few other crashes. Only ever used the same watch face since I've had it but now when it freezes, the watch face reverts. I use "Flowers"
