Jaybird Tarah Pro

Hi,

I have been looking at Bluetooth running headphones for the F645. I have Apple AirPods but the connection isn’t perfect. I tried Ankers but the sound was mediocre and lacked bass, also they made a booming noise with each foot fall and the cable felt like it was knocking against the back of my head.

I’m current looking at Bose SoundSport Free which I have listened to, and the new Jaybird Tarah Pro. I’m a bit but off my the size of the Bose and the buttons are hard to press when you are running so I guess they are designed more for the gym.

Has anyone used Jaybirds with the 645? Is the connection strong enough?
  • I have a Jaybird X3 and I use it with the "regular" set up (not the "sport" way over the ear) and I use the FR 645M on my left wrist... My watch is with FW 4.20 and I have no problems with BT connection... During intervals when I'm walking sometimes I have a very short cut... but during running and "normal" arm balance I have not a single cut with X3...
  • I've read some good reviews on the Tarah Pro but I can't find any online in the UK yet.

I've had a lot fo success with using the Jaybird Tarah Pros with my Forerunner 645. At first, I had a bad experience using it on my left wrist (lots of drops), but it worked great when I wore the watch on my right wrist. I found that frustrating. Then I realized the genius of the Tarah Pros -- the earpieces rotate -- which means, by swapping the ear piece covers, you can shift the volume controller to either the right or left side! Voila, now I can wear the watch on my left wrist!

Here's how: swap out the clear covers of the different ear pieces -- in other words, I put the right ear cover (the way it comes in the box) onto the left bud and vice versa, then rotated them to fit over the ear. Now the Bluetooth control sits on my left side, and it works pretty much without fail running the streets of NYC. Yes, I've had a few drop outs here and there, but FAR better than any other earbuds I've tried.

Oh, and by the way: you can simply tuck the cord underneath the other parts of the cord on the right side. It doesn't have to hang down like a rat tail.

These are by far the best experience I've had. They are MUCH lighter than the Bose Sound Sport Free, Jabra Elite 65t, and AfterShokz. They sound quite good to me, too. THe battery life is killer. And they pair really easily with my Garmin (not always the case with other styles I've tried).ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1451952.jpg

I've been using the Tarah Pro's for around 6 weeks now and I really like them. I agree they are light and they sound almost hi-fi quality - although you can't really fully appreciate the subtitles of the music when you are running, but sit down in a quiet room somewhere, turn the volume up, and wow.

I use it on my left wrist and don't actually have any problems when connected with 645M. These are Bluetooth 5.0 headphones so the signal is quite strong. I'm glad I went for these instead of Bose SoundSport Free - the remote is so handy.
  • I have had the Tarah Pros for about a week and I am very happy with the great sound quality, battery life, weatherproofing and magnetic clip-together of the earpieces so you can keep them around your neck and it also pauses the music.

On left wrist and receiver on the right I had significant drop-out of bluetooth connection when walking in outdoor urban areas. Indoors and away from built-up areas its ok. When running I have not had problems when the controller is on either side. Changing over the ear-tips so the controller is on the left (same side as watch) has fixed all issues - although I am not sure they are designed to be swapped over but it seem ok.

One negative is that there are still no accessories available and it would be good to have a backup charger.

Overall pretty happy with them considering the sound quality and with Spotify on the watch. Spotify is also integrated into the Jaybird App on Android.
  • I cannot comment on the Jaybird Tarah Pros. I wish I would have given them a try because I have the SoundSport Free. Don't get me wrong I think they are great they just are terrible buggy with the 645M. I like the sound and feel of the Bose Frees. They do look ridiculous and big but the fit is perfect.

The connection with the 645M is good if you are only listening to music. As soon as you start an activity the sound is dropping and then plays the music faster. This lasts for about 5 minutes and then you could enjoy your music. I've read that it did work with a older firmware version so there is some hope left.

Cannot recommend the Bose Free with the 645M.
  • Also the Jaybird equalizer app is a really great feature on the Tarah Pros. I personally don't like Bose sound as I find it a bit bass heavy, but you can increase the treble and base independently on the Tarah Pros so you get crystal clear highs and deep lows.

I have the Tara pro. First day I connected ok with watch, today I was having issues connecting to my watch. I was in a rush to go to the gym so I'm just pairing with my phone right now will test when I go back home

But the headphones are great you can go a while week without worrying about charging them
