Garmin Forerunner 645 with MapwithGPS

Hello all!

I am a cyclist and a runner. I was wondering if anyone has tried MapwithGPS with their Garmin Forerunner 645. It works perfectly with my Wahoo head unit for my bike. Can I download maps made with MapwithGPS to Garmin Forerunner? It would be very convenient for me to do so or am I forced to use two different mapping apparatus?
  • How did this work out for you?
  • If you mean RideWithGPS, I haven't tried this myself, but looks like there's a couple of ways:

    Manual export/import (best with PC/Mac):
    Follow the steps outlined here:
    https://ridewithgps.com/help/export-...-garmin-device

(This involves manually exporting/downloading the course file from RideWithGPS, then importing it to your watch via USB. If you want to import wirelessly, see below.)

    Notes:
    - If you have a 645M and a Mac, you need this app to copy files to your watch through USB: https://www.android.com/filetransfer/
    - If you can't or don't want to connect your watch to your PC/Mac with USB, you can also import .GPX or .TCX course files with the Garmin Connect website.
    (Left-hand) Menu > Training > Courses > Import

Once you've imported a course this way, click Send To Device and sync with WiFi, Bluetooth, or USB. (Ignore the Garmin Express prompt if you're not syncing with USB)

    - I think the GCM app can also open GPX files, but I've never tried it.

    - If you're using a phone (especially an iPhone), this might not be easy, since you need to download the route file, then somehow get it on your watch (either by opening it with the GCM app or uploading it to the GC website). There's more support for downloads and uploads in iOS these days, but it's still not as straightforward as it would be on a computer

    Easy sync (easier for phones):
    - Use the RouteCourse app (and website) to automate the process.

It's easier to do than the manual procedure (fewer steps), and it definitely works with your phone (no need to download a file), so you can do it when you're away from a PC/Mac. The way it works is you create a free account on the RouteCourse site, then you link it to your RideWithGPS account. After that, you can easily sync routes from RideWithGPS to your watch by choosing them in the website, then opening the app.
