software version 3.30 feedback

My 645 (non-music) froze on the first run after the update to 3.30. See attached error-log.
I was using the back to starting point function (straight line) while this happened. The watch never froze before,

The update finally happened for me. No problems for running and daily use so far.
  • I have a frustrating issue that i can't seem to resolve. I have a 645M, which was working great. I got the update from 3.1->3.3 which seemed to work without too much of an issue, until I noticed i no longer have training effect - so no aerobic/anaerobic score - i also think that i no longer get any udpate to my TSS. To make troubleshooting more complicated, updating to 3.3 coincided with me adding the new connect IQ field for STRYD power - at which time i changed pace/distance to be from the STRYD pod (as i understand they are both more accurate then GPS). I've tried running with GPS for distance (still using STRYD pod for pace) and I still get no training effect score. Is this a 3.3 issue? or something else unique to me? Either way, a bit frustrating.

  • Jsford1: I use the Stryd Live with 3.3 without problems. I take distance and speed from Stryd.
Afaik GPS has to be turned on and has to record a track in order for the performance values to get updated.
  • Mentioned in a separate post but since 3.30 I've lost audio prompts direct from watch on my 645M (i.e without linking via a phone and the Connect app). I've been working with Garmin support to try to resolve but despite checking all settings and a couple of complete resets there's been no resolution. These were working before the update but I switched them off when I got a couple of lockups when playing music. To be honest I'm considering returning the watch for a refund as my personal experience (and a few others judging by the posts here) is that it's still very much a work in progress with fixes for one problem seeming to cause many others and I just want to know my running watch is reliable and provides all the features I paid £400 for.

Press and hold UP, then select SETTINGS, then select AUDIO PROMPTS. Turn on the ones that you want and you're GTG. Knock on wood, I haven't had any lock ups what so ever with music and my prompts on...

    thanks for the reply, Lake.

I see you're using the "live" version - so that's the one without power, right? I have added the STRYD power field on my watch, I wonder if that has anything to do with my issues.

Set my watch to "always" use the STRYD pod for speed and distance. GPS must be on, as I still get a nice map of my run in Garmin Connect.

It was a little confusing because of my cycling, but I can now confirm that I get no training effect or recovery effect when using my 645m - this certainly wasn't always the case. Something changed for me since 3.30. I went for a hard(ish) 7k run yesterday and an easy 8k run today, and neither day did I get any TE (in watch nor in Garmin connect) - when i look at my recovery advisor it says zero hours... which certainly can't be correct.

I went through the process of unpairing my watch and repairing it, dropped my sensors and readded them but still no luck.. Will probably do a reset of the watch, but am a bit annoyed at the idea of adding my sensors (and headphones) and garmin pay yet again.

    Anyone else having similar issues?

I wish it was that simple - with the audio prompts that I want switched on in the settings, there's still no joy. As I said, I've been working with Garmin support and this was the first thing they checked. I've also done a couple of complete resets which still didn't fix the problem. Looks like it's a fault in the watch itself...

After a few weeks of succesfull wifi uploads, yesterday the watch started draining battery again with uploading on wifi.
Turned of watch, charged it, turned back on and was back in business, but this is also still not solved
  • I've now ran 4 times with 3.3, and my non-music 645 has rebooted on 3 out of the 4 runs. On 2 of the 4 runs, it's restarted in the same spot; at the end of the run, after saving the run, right after showing me the aerobic/anaerobic numbers, boom. Triangle. On the other run it crashed, it did so about an hour and 15 minutes into the run. Just restarted, and after the reboot, it picked right back up again. Screwed up my avg pace, but otherwise, for the most part the run was ok.

This is really, really annoying. Watch was flawless for me until 3.3 hit. Wish I hadn't sold my 235, I would go back to it until they fix this watch!
  • My non music has no such issues. I would reach out to Garmin as it sounds like a simple reset or reinstall of 3.3 is required. Your watch appears to be an exception and not the rule.
