Anyone else getting false elevation reading on the 645M ?? Mine is consistently overestimating by 600ft.. any way of calibrating this???
  • To read and adjust barometer value you can use this Widgit:
    https://apps.garmin.com/da-DK/apps/c4c7fb2b-05ba-4b01-9dcd-f19fa2c298b5
You even gets trend 6 hours backwards

So Garmin Joey recommends sending issues to garmin support so I did.

This is the response. It is a standard one to say no issues then?

    Dear Jamie,

Due to the nature of internet forums, people will express their personal views which they are entitled to do and we have no control over this . Our preference would be for them to contact us first so that we can offer support.

You will likely therefore, find other users that have experienced similar issues to yourself, and the same can be found for any electrical device and potential issue, but these do only make up a very small minority of users, and very few of these turn out to be genuine faults. As such, whilst regrettably faults can occur, as they can on any electrical device, there are no known faults with these, which can cause this.

    Kind regards,

    Sean

    Dear Garmin,

is it possible to have for Forerunner 645/M the ABC widgets ? The sensors are in the watch, so the hardware is ok.
I would appreciate it very much.

    Thank you

    See myABC

Thanks really useful. So using https://routecalculator.co.uk/elevation?appmode=1 I live at around 228ft. My Garmin edge 1000 says 232ft if I stand outside right now and using the ABC widget on watch it says 137ft. So definitely something up with the watch. Garmin UK twitter looking into my message rather than the dismissive response I got from them via email.
  • I really need to contact Garmin. I'm currently at about 38 feet. ABC widget says 416. After GPS fix goes down to 140. Any explanation for this other than something being wrong with the altimeter?
  • why can not we change altitude? I do not understand. Why in the widgets there is not the possibility to put the altimeter page but only from third parties without having a chart? they must enter the manual altitude correction.

Apparently been loads of issues with the Fenix too. Basically these devices for elevation are currently not fit for purpose.

Im still waiting to Wharton back from Garmin after their dismissive response that there are no issues with them.

Garmin states that an error margin of + or - 400 feet is acceptable when using GPS. If you are currently at 38 feet and the GPS is showing 140', you are well within the margin of error for GPS accuracy. Your ABC widget will constantly change the elevation with the change in pressure readings and frequent calibration is required. The problem is Garmin doesn't allow the manual calibration of the FR645 so you can set the altimeter to the correct elevation of 38 feet. Why they started this with the 645 is beyond me. Maybe a software update can change this and I suggest as many people as possible request this feature and perhaps Garmin will allow it.
  • So how accurate is the barometer supposed to be? I'm seeing big differences between what the ABC widget is showing and what my weather app is saying. I'm not expecting either one to be 100% accurate but if I'm at sea level shouldn't they be somewhat close? Wondering if this large discrepancy is contributing to elevation issues. For example, right now the pressure in my area (New York City) is about 30.13. ABC widget is showing 30.41 and an altitude of 376 feet. I am on the 9th floor of a building. If anything shouldn't the pressure be lower?
