Garmin FR 235 is not recognized by garmin express

I have two Garmin FR 235 watches and neither are recognized by the garmin express program (tested in 7.4.1.0 and the last verrsion 7.8.0.0) I have tried with three different cables and on two different computers with w7 and w10. I have always had the same problem for three weeks. Watches charge the battery but won't connect to garmin express. Help.

  • Maybe check if Windows sees it. Should be visible as flash disk when you open the Computer icon. And also at the Device Manager -> Disks -> Garmin FR235 Flash USB Device.

If you can't access that disk, then you can try at Device Manager: select View -> Show hidden and remove all FR235 entries, after that - plug it again and it will be loaded as new by Windows.

And for Express, re-install it, to be sure it's a clear install - after uninstall, manually remove settings files if some left, somewhere like C:\ProgramData\ or just entering its name into search box.

  • thank you, but it doesn´t work. Like I said I have two FR235 and I've tried in two different computers

  • I did a master reset according the following video (min 6 sec 43) and... one of them work again but not the other one.

The garmin FR235 that doesn´t work yet has only the English language and when i connect it in the pc the watch charges but but it doesn't go into mass storage mode so I tried this method:

    it doesn´t work.

  • To force the watch to mount as USB drive (call pre-boot mode), turn it off, mount the USB cradle on the watch but don't plug in PC, hold the start button (upper right), then plug in PC.

Once you ear the mounting sound, you can release the  start button.
