610 screens on 235

I just bought a 235 and I am disappointed it has only 2 configurable screen instead of 3 I had in 610

I would need
1 for the total; Time / Distance / Pace
1 for Interval Training: Time and Distance of the lap
1 for Lap Pace and Last Lap Pace.

This to have numbers big enough to be read when running seriously.

Any suggested IQCONNECT APP to replicate 610 Display?
Thanks
  • Unfortunately you should have checked the spec before you bought! the 630 and 735 support more screens than the 235 for example.

With ConnectIQ, to get information on the data screens you need to use ConnectIQ datafields. They won't add pages, just allow you to change what if displayed in a datafield.

One option would be to change the datafields displayed dependant on your type of activity, ie have one setup for intervals and then change it for normal runs.

">‑1 and Screen‑2">Screen‑1 and Screen‑2 can accommodate a total of eight data fields. You only listed seven there, so what's the problem? Even if you cannot organise it as three separate screens in the way you prefer, as long as you can see the seven (and learn to adjust yourself to where they are), the information content requirement can be fulfilled; your overall user satisfaction with the layout can take a back seat.

Furthermore, for interval training set up as custom workouts, you'll get an extra (non user-customisable) screen.

This to have numbers big enough to be read when running seriously.
The same font size is used whether a data screen is showing three fields or four.
  • Thanks for answer.
About screens in Garmin Comparing tool was not mentioned but in any case my fault.
Yes I use the different activities workaround

I tried to put everything in two screens but during IT on track are too small and two fields is the right size.

So no apps can change number of configurable screens? Ultimate answer :( ?
    Thanks

There are no CIQ apps to change the number of data screens in a native app. There are CIQ data fields, where for example, you set a screen for 1 DF, and the CIQ DF displays a dozen different items in that one DF.

There are CIQ device-apps, that are used in place of a native app. For example, I have one for hiking that has 7 screens of data.
  • So no apps can change number of configurable screens?
No Connect‑IQ app can change the number of configurable data screens when you run, if you're not using an app instead of the built-in Run activity profile. The number of configurable data screens for built-in profiles is (apparently by design intent) a differentiating feature between lesser and ‘better’ models in the Forerunner range, and also between product ranges (e.g. Forerunner vs fēnix).

I'm not a Connect‑IQ developer, so I don't know if you could develop an app – which you'll use instead of Run / Bike / Other on the FR235 – with several accessible screens in a loop, and ‘configure’ it by either changing the app's code, or its settings in Garmin Express / Garmin Connect Mobile (but not directly on your watch).
  • I seem to recall that you used to be able to configure the HR data page with 2 fields of your choosing but not got a 235 to hand right now to check.

There are several CIQ data fields that allow more than 4 fields per page but sounds like they would be too small.
AFAIK there are no "hacks" to give more data pages than Garmin offer you.

In workouts, would have thought the workout page plus the 2 normal pages would be enough.
Also, do you really need last lap pace in a workout. When an interval is done you can see how you did and of course soon would be time for the next one anyway.

Or, as CW implies, take it back and get a 630 or 735 instead.

Not since firmware v4.20, if I recall correctly.

    Ah shame!

Yes, in a full-blown CIQ device-app, you could do one for "Running", with how ever many screens you want, displaying what you want, and be made as configurable as you want, by way of Garmin Express, Garmin Connect Mobile, or even on the watch itself (from within the app, and not system setting.)
  • Jim, would the 235 have enough memory to enable this sort of thing?
