Personal Records Wiped Out By Activity Name or Course Name??????

I recently switched from the 405 to the 230. When my Personal Records are now recognized by Garmin Connect they disappear if I edit the activity by giving it an Activity Name or adding a Course Name. This was not a problem in the past. I know I can manually ad a PR to an activity, but it's to the activity as a whole, it does not recognize the PR mile time or kilometer time within the activity. This seems like an unnecessary problem. Any idea on how to overcome it?
  • Not sure I really understand your issues here.

What records are showing in GC - https://connect.garmin.com/modern/trophy-case ?

    Same as this: https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?364192-Personal-records-are-not-updated&p=919158#post919158

Happened to me too on my FR235 (running v5.40 firmware), Garmin Connect Mobile app for Android 3.11.1

I did a run the other day and got a new PR for 1 mile. The FR235 advised me of such after my run, then synced via Garmin Connect Mobile on my phone while I was walking home. I looked at Garmin Connect online in my browser, and a trophy icon appeared next to the activity; my list of PRs showed the new 1-mile PR.

After reading the anecdotal reports by other users (linked to above), I edited the Notes for the activity in Garmin Connect online. The trophy icon remained; no issue there.

I then changed the Event Type from Uncategorised to Fitness. The trophy icon disappeared, and now in my list of PRs the 1-mile PR is blank.
  • Hello. The same happened at my forerunner 230. I had a new record (PR) at running at 1 KM and also at 5 KM. I checked the new PR records and they were displayed correctly.
The next day I renamed the specific activity. After some days when i checked again my PR records at 1KM and at 5 KM they were blank (--).

    Thank you, Nasos.
  • Hi,
is there any update on this issue? An estimation if it will be fixed and when?

    Thanks

  • Have you contacted Garmin support? They're the ones with the crystal balls.
  • Garmin's Lame Solution

I've been having the same problem. I contacted Garmin, and this is what they said:

"Sorry to hear your PR disappeared from the Personal Records after you edited the activity. Whenever an activity is edited after being uploaded to Garmin Connect the system will take it out of the Personal Records section. Then when you manually set it as the PR the system assumed the whole activity is the PR. Then, when you tried to reload the Activity from your watch the system gave you an error message because there is already a file with that time and date on your account.

I recommend deleting the activity form your Garmin Connect account and then re-adding the activity to Garmin Connect and not editing the Activity.

You can delete the Activity from Garmin Connect by selecting the Gear icon in the upper right and selecting "Delete"."
