New Forerunner 235 DOA?

I just came home from the local running store with a brand new in box Forerunner 235. Went to turn it on. Nothing. Plugged it into the USB port on my laptop (Windows 10) USB doesn't recognize it. Yes I have the clip plugged in correctly.

Help!

if you have followed the instructions in the manual and you are still having problems I'd take it back to the retailer. Do make sure you give it time to charge first though.

Yeah, if it's been sitting on the shelf for a while, leave it plugged in to power and just let it be. Eventually it should "come to". Similar to when you leave a dead iPhone sitting around for months, it takes a while to bring the battery back to life.

Try a mains charger, a usb2 socket might not have enough to wake it from its sleep

Out of the box mine took about an hour to gain enough powder to light up and it took at least 4 hours for the first full charge. BTW, this was using the USB port on my home desktop.
