HR Problems - Other Profile

Hi Everybody,

FR235 with 4.10, profile other, doing indoor rowing (Concept2 Model D - PM5).

I am getting flat HR (file attached). Using the watch as recommended (upper in the wrist line and very tight).

Anyone with the same problem?

Thanks!

It's possible with all the wrist movement involved with rowing, the sensor may have moved and it wasn't getting a good reading. Is this something that just started after the 4.10 update? Is it only when the "Other" activity is selected? I was just deciding what kind of workout to do this afternoon. I'll use my indoor rowing machine on "Other" and see if this is an isolated incident or something with the update. I suspect it may be sensor movement though.

Update: I just completed a 30 min workout on my rowing machine. Unfortunately, I'm going to be of no assistance to you because my HR readings were tracked correctly. I do make it a point to try and prevent the watch from moving as much as possible. I did have an issue with my HR zones, so you may be able to assist me. My average HR was in the mid-range for my zone 3 and a fairly good portion of my workout was in zone 4. I verified my HR zones on my watch and in Garmin Connect, but I only had a Training Effect of 2.0. Did you also experience a low training effect?

I had the same issue with the older firmware before 4.10.
But on Thursday I could get a new one (the HR was flat for the first minutes of the activity). So it is intermittent. The numbers for this particular activity:

    Distance: 6041 meters
    Time: 30:14 minutes
    Pace: 2:30/500 meters
    Avg HR: 131 bpm
    Max HR: 147 bpm
    TE: 3.1
    Calories: 304

The FR235 was so tight on my wrist that I don`t believe it could had moved.
One thing that I remember is that I turned on the watch 2 minutes before the starting the activity.
How long did you turn your watch on before starting?

that seems strange. am assuming new HRM.

a chest strap should be fine to row with

does the PM5 display the same HR as the 235? if it does not then you may have a prob with the watch
if you use the other profile away fro the machine does it work on the 235?
if you use on another rowing machine (ie with no Bluetooth/ant+ PM5 console) then does it work?

doing those sort of tests should help you find what is the cause of the prob...fixing it is then another issue :-(

My chest strap gives me an HR AVG around 132 and HR MAX at 148 (connected to the PM5).
I will try another profile and send the results soon. Thanks!

Yesterday I did an activity using the "RUN PROFILE". No problem. HR was OK.
This evening I tried again with "OTHER PROFILE". Same problems from other tests. I turned on the FR235 2 minutes before the exercise. HR was 64 bpm at rest. Within the first 5 minutes it dropped to 46 bpm. I stopped the exercise and the watch. Wait a little bit and the HR went up to 100 bpm (what it was normal). I started again the activity and HR was accurate (attached file).
