Bluetooth issue - disconnects randomly

Former Member

Hi!

My FR-235 looses bluetooth connection constantly. It disconnects randomly after a few hours.
I've got a Sony Experia Z5, all updated. I've tried reboots, and factory resets on my device and also on the phone ! No powersaving modes are enabled. Still no luck. This is very frustrating.

Could this be a HW issue? Should I return the device?

Regards

Lars Erik
  • How are you checking it's disconnected, by the icon? What do you need it to be connected for, Ie is it notifications, weather etc?

I need it connected to use notification and calendar. It says "Needs App connection" (translated from norwegian) for all functionality that requires BT.

Only since the 3.3 firmware update, I notice that my watch is not connected and is no longer able to upload via bluetooth (only via USB to the computer).

I have the same issue with FW 3.3
  • I'm getting a similar issue since updating to FW 3.20 (and now 3.30) but on my iPhone.
My bluetooth connection to headphones and my car stereo randomly drops out to "iphone speaker" and pauses the audio. I have to press play on my phone to get the bluetooth to reconnect and start playing again.
It's really frustrating, and seems to happen most often if I go into an unrelated app while listening to audio (e.g. going into Facebook).

At first I couldn't work out what was going on, but I've realised that it's only started happening since the watch update and that's the only thing that has changed in the past few weeks.

Same issue here, any updates from Garmin support?
  • Same for 230.
Sometimes disconnects and then reconnects randomly.

No big issue for me but definitely it is not the way how it should work

    Still disconnects

    Hi!

This is very annoying. For a few weeks it has been disconnection only a few times every day, but the last few days it keeps disconnecting more than every hour. I get no feedback from Garmin on this issue.

Any idea on what to try?

  • Strange. I just upgraded a Z2 to z5 and have noticed even though it always says connected, sometimes it isn't. I have to switch Bluetooth off and back on and manually sync.
The Z2 was very reliable, and firmware would have been virtually the same.
