Getting notifications during designated sleep time

During the past two nights I started getting notifications on my 235 during the time I've designated as sleep time. My understanding was that the watch would basically go into "Do Not Disturb" mode during the hours that you put in for sleep, and it seemed to work that way for the first week and a half.

I've double checked my sleep times. They haven't changed. I prefer not getting woken up in the middle of the night with notifications, or needing to remember to manually set the watch to "Do Not Disturb" every night, then turn "Do Not Disturb" back on every morning.

Anybody else having this issue? Any suggestions?
  • I haven't had the issue, but then my phone automatically goes into DND mode during my usual sleep hours anyway so there's no source for notifications.

The manual does seem to claim automatic DND during sleep hours on the watch, so if it's not working for you (and you've tried a power-cycle) it might be worth talking to Garmin Support.
  • One would expect the watch would be smart enough to go in do not disturb mode, but sadly enough it doesn't.
I can confirm being woken up by an alert the first night. :p
My cellphone doesn't make sounds when new alerts come in at night, but they are still passed to the watch
I also disabled the no activity alert since sunday afternoons I sometimes fall in sleep on the couch while watching tv ;)
  • You've reported the bug now, yes? The manual seems pretty clear that it's not supposed to work that way.

Yes. I've entered my sleep times in on GC and have double checked the times to make sure they are correct (e.g. PM and AM). I didn't get any notifications last night. So maybe it was a quirk. If it happens again I'll report it as a bug.

Well, I seem to be the only one with this issue, which is a little disconcerting and makes me question whether I'm doing something wrong.

I've entered my sleep times in the phone app. Made sure it's synced with my watch. Double checked the times, and the "AM" vs. "PM" settings. The watch seems to report the correct sleep times in the morning. But I still get alerts on it in the middle of the night.

Oddly, the alerts all come in a group, one after the other, maybe 3-5 in a row. However, when I check the actual times of the emails / texts in the morning, they are much more spread out during the night (I work with some overseas associates).

I guess I need to submit a bug report. Anybody have instructions on how to start that?

    Thanks in advance!

I've gotten move alerts when the watch sees that I'm sleeping. It has been outside my normal sleep times, like when I was home sick last week and slept in. The vibration woke me up and told me to get moving. It doesn't happen all the time though so not sure what's going on with it.

I don't use notifications... but my understanding is that the backlight turned on via "wrist-turn" should also be disabled when the watch goes into do-not-disturb sleep mode. However, currently it is not the case and the backlight turns on throughout the night.

I too - set up and synced the sleep times via the Phone App (Android) and I wonder if this is part of the reason? I don't have a Windows or OSX computer to try the other syncing option.
