FR 235: fast/slow alerts not working?

Former Member

During my interval workout (my first time running with FR235) I am pretty sure I went outside of my pace range several times, both too fast and too slow, and it was confirmed by average pace. However I didn't get any fast/slow alerts like I used to get on my FR225. I am getting HR high/low alerts as expected, but not pace alerts. Known issue?

Thanks!
Alex
  • I've seen this too, I've created other thread about this
Come on Garmin fix this :( This is why people buy running watches... not to get whatsapp, facebook updates and stuff, but just running. This is your core business

Updated to v3.20 yesterday and it didn't fix the problem - still not getting pace alerts. If someone from Garmin could at least confirm this is a known issue and there will be a fix, it would really help.
    Thanks!

Are pace alerts the same thing as Virtual Pacer? Maybe that's why it's not working?

Hmm I don't think this is the same thing. My understanding is that virtual pacer is the mode showing how much you are ahead or behind (distance) your target pace. I know they are not working. Fast/slow alert is just like target HR zone alert showing you when your lap pace is above or below target. FR225 had them working, but with FR235 I only see HR alerts.

I just read the manual and played with my watch and yup, I see the pace alerts! I just set mine, but am not scheduled for another run to test it out until tomorrow.

To be clear: did you go to Menu > Activity Settings > Alerts > Add New? When I do this, I see the option to add all sorts of range alerts, as indicated in the manual.
  • Manual pace settings might be working, but it's not what I want. What I want is to create schedules with different workouts and define in those workouts in garmin connect what the pace zones are.
When an interval starts, the watch shows this min and max pace.... but it doesn't use it as a setting to create alerts
