Apparently randomly Edge Explore decides my outdoor ride is an indoor/stationary ride so no map of the route I rode is recorded/available.

Any suggestions as to how to solve this?

Are you sure GPS mode was enabled and the signal was OK?

I had a ride with 0 distance and no mapping because GPS was disabled by accident.

Thanks. I thought that might be the case, but every time I check GPS is enabled (green). The strange thing is no map but distance is recorded and so is elevation and grade.

I had the same thing happen to me today. GPS is on and enabled, Garmin Connect shows everything. Today is the first time it has uploaded as indoor cycling. I have no idea what changed. I did not change anything.
