Hello guys,
Been riding MTB for some months now and i use my VA3 to record all my rides. So far i'm very happy with the device.
Still, i think i can improve some aspects of the ride.
I mainly do Cross Country with some tech (rocky, etc) descents along the way (in the courses/trails i know).
As of now i would love to be able to:
-Track rides longer than 5hours ( Full VA3 capability);
-Be able to check velocity, upcoming ascent in a dedicated device placed in front of me;
-Be able to "discover" unknown tracks, trails and courses and have good OFFROAD navigation.
For this I'm thinking of buying the Edge 820 .
My plan is to use the Garmin Edge 820 as my main record device while cycling, while having the Vivoactive 3 broadcasting my HR to the 820.
Questions:
- Since i won't be using VA3 with GPS, only the HR broadcasting, will it save battery life?
- Does this technology work? Or is it plagued with problems?
- Will the Edge 820 really improve the experience of my "lone" MTB rides?
Any other comments or experiences you can share with me will be greatly appreciated.
