Edge 820 Map Turn Prompts (or lack of)

Folks,

I know from the thread https://forums.garmin.com/archive/index.php/t-358822.html that several of you do not like the lack of map prompts when operating in turn-by-turn mode. If you'd like to request that Garmin update this feature to work like it did on the 810, please go to garmin.com/ideas and put in the suggestion.

Here is what I put in:

I'm looking to submit a feature request to change map prompts on this device similar to how it worked on the 810. Notably that when you were on a data field screen that nav would prompt with full map to show upcoming turn. I realize you show turn by turn on the map view, but no athlete is going to ride with the map up all the time -- they are going to have a normal data field screen up. The prompt at the bottom is insufficient and frankly I think it's a safety hazard, as people could take the wrong turn and get injured. This is a popular request so I'm sharing a community page so you can see it's not just me. https://forums.garmin.com/archive/index.php/t-358822.html

    why not?

same here! coming from the 800 this is a huge disappointment. Only an arrow showing to "go right on alley" which half of the time is "go to the cycle road on the right side of the road" and the other half of the time it means "turn right"
To know for sure I'm constqantly switching manually between data screens
and with the great touch screeen response this is even worse.... Garmin, fix this please
  • Navigation prompts are a major regression

    I totally agree!
Being used to an Edge 800 I am also disappointed by the navigation prompts of the 820. That is a major regression!
  • Firmware 8.40 brings the full screen map prompts back, just like they are on the Edge 800. Very useful on complicated crossings. Nice! Thanks.
