course>settings>always display?

Can someone clarify when you select a course, then go to settings>always display and settings>course points- what does this do? Is it to do with the course line drawn out over the navigation map display?

Is there a way of turning off the 'Ride Northwest' text at the top of the screen when navigating?
  • Always display will draw the route on the map page all the time even when not following that course.

I don't think that there is anyway to disable the text at the top of the map page.

Update: You can switch the text off. See posting #4 below.

Yup. If you were to say have 5 courses saved and all set to display, you'd see all of them. This could be useful and/or confusing if the courses overlapped each other.

There isn't. But there should be. It's useless waste of screen space.

    Go to

Settings -> Activity Profiles -> <name of profile you wish to change> -> Map -> Guide Text
  • thanks, i thought Guide Text was the turn-by-turn instructions. I have to agree with TFLPA, it is a useless waste of valuable screen space to be told I am RIDING NORTHWEST.
They should really get you to write the next instruction manual for them :X
  • TBT instructions has it's control under the course options. Called "Turn Guidance".

I think I turned that off yesterday after the race, today it was clear on the screen at top, until nearing town where it demanded that I 'ride to the endpoint" which really wasn't helpful.
